movie news: First trailer for Lincoln released

I’m not sure how interested I really am in Abraham Lincoln when he’s not slaying vampires… but it’s Steven Spielberg and he’s often surprised me. So… ok.

Besides, I am very interested in Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones and John Hawkes all appearing in the same film. Some of the best actors alive? I think so. Spielberg gets some rap sometimes but he knows drama. I still shed a tear watching AI: Artifical Intelligence and don’t talk to me about War Horse. It might not have been the most compelling story but he made it work, I think.

I guess the main thing for me is that it’s a part of American history I know very little about, so I’m looking forward to learning more about it. Even if it will be through a Hollywood lens. The trailer does look a little dry but I trust Spielberg to make sure we get more than just a history lesson out of it.

With a November release in the US, it’s undoubtedly got it’s eyes firmly on the awards season, but hey, who doesn’t like to win awards.
