movie news: First official image of Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs

There can be no doubt that Steve Jobs cut an iconic figure… but when I heard that Ashton Kutcher was stepping up to the mantle to play him in the upcoming biopic jOBS I was pretty skeptical.
And I’m still skeptical.
After The Social Network (review) I have no doubt that someone could create a compelling tale about Jobs’ rise from college dropout to CEO of an iconic multi-billion dollar corporation but…
… I’m really just not sure that Ashton Kutcher is right for the part. I’ve never seen him in a role that even resembled serious and I just don’t know he can do it. The film is premiering as the closing film at Sundance in January 2013 so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Or we can just keep on waiting for Aaron Sorkin’s take on a Steve Jobs biopic. He’s apparently planning a real-time film with only 3 scenes. Think different hey?
