clips and trailers: Predestination (2015)
No CommentCame across the trailer for Predestination today via @danandclick and since I’m a sucker for sci-fi I obviously think it looks AMAZING. Because it does. You know, if you like that kind of thing. Which I do. A lot.
The film is based on a short story by Robert A. Heinlein – All You Zombies (don’t read the wiki, apparently it’s very spoilery) – and it stars Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook (who looks a lot like Emma Stone sometimes) and Noah Taylor, who I hear is in Game of Thrones.
It’s an Australian film from the directors of Daybreakers (review) and it seem to be a time travel-y, dystopian future thing. My favourite genre. Dystopian future that is. It also reminds me of Looper though I hope it’s not like Looper. As much as I enjoyed that film, I don’t want that to be the model every time travel film follows now.
I suppose there is a little bit of a worry about Predestination being from The Spierig Brothers. I really wanted to like Daybreakers. I tried really hard and it was a great concept but… the execution was embarrassing…
Anyway, that’s in the past and this seems to have a pretty good IMDb rating so far, having already been released in Australia. It doesn’t have UK, US or indeed European release dates yet outside of festivals, but I am hopeful. Have a look and let me know what you think.
