movie news: IFI Horrorthon 2013 programme announced

I’ll be doing my usual recommendations for the festival later in the month but for now I’ll just let you know the programme.
If you don’t already know, this will be the 16th edition of the Irish Film Institute Horrorthon. Basically it’s 4.5 days of wall to wall horror.
So not for the faint hearted.
No really.
I’ve never done the full 4.5 days but I’ve done a couple of days back to back and I can tell you – watching 6 horror films a day in a cinema with barely a break for bathroom, food or beer really is hardcore. More than even being on the awards jury for JDIFF. At least you get to go outside a bit at JDIFF, while running from cinema to cinema…
Anyway, here’s this year’s programme. If you are in any way into horror films I highly recommend heading to something Horrorthon. And even just doing at least one full day… for the experience. Plus, often these films will never again be seen in a cinema again in Ireland… and not always because they’re crap. There’s always the chance you’ll find a hidden gem when you least expect it.
