movie news: First trailer for Jason Statham’s new film, Homefront
No CommentHomefront also stars James Franco as his meth dealing nemesis, but then who cares right? Jason Statham has a new film!
As I’m sure you might have noticed on average film reviews before. I’m a big fan of Jason Statham. He knows what he’s good at and he makes good choices within that framework. He’s leading the new generation of action hero. Brawn, but with a bit of brains too. This isn’t the ’80s, where you just barge in and blow crap up. You gotta have a plan. Statham always has a plan for the job.
And quips. Gotta have the funny quips. Not everyone can pull that off you know. World’s biggest action star, Tom Cruise? Can’t do it.
Anyway, Statham also knows that he can’t be an action star forever so he’s making hay while the sun shines. This year we’re already seen him in Parker, Hummingbird and (briefly) Fast & Furious 6… and in November we’ll be seeing him again in Homefront.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Chuck Logan and was adapted into a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone. Oddly enough. I mean not that oddly, he is an Oscar nominated screenwriter after all, but still. Gary Fleder, director of Kiss The Girls and Imposter, helms the endeavour.
The trailer looks like Statham is sticking to what he knows best. Heroic loner with a hidden past, which involved ass-kickin’. This time he’s got a cap. James Franco looks a little bit more confused, I don’t really buy him as a badass but I suppose we’ll see how it goes.
Check out the trailer and let me know what you think in the comments…
