clips and trailers: The Amazing Spider-Man – exclusive clip!

Here at average film reviews today we’re lucky enough to have another Irish exclusive! A great clip from the new Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man – “Connors is coming to you”.

The Amazing Spider-Man is another telling of Marvel comic’s Spider-Man origin story. You might remember about 10 years we had a version of the Spider-Man origin story starring Tobey Maguire. I wasn’t a massive fan of that film, or the two sequels, but this film looks a lot more fun.

Andrew Garfield takes on the titular role while Emma Stone plays Gwen Stacy. The film follows Peter Parker as he tries to unravel the mystery behind why his parents disappeared when he was a child. A clue he discovers leads him down a path which puts him on a collision course with his father’s former colleague, Dr. Chris Connors, played by Rhys Ifans.

This new version promises to be closer to the comic books than the previous ones. In it we’ll see Parker invent artificial web slinging abilities, as opposed to growing them like we saw in the last films. Also they’ve taken the step of including Gwen Stacy, Parker/Spider-Man’s first love – Mary Jane doesn’t appear till much later in the comics.

Early reviews have been very positive so I’m pretty hopeful for this new Spider-Man flick, I’ll be seeing it on Monday so I’ll be sure to let you know what I think as soon as I can.
